"This image is of the lighthouse in New London, CT 'The Whaling City'.
The ferry coming into the mouth of the river, the dock stretching out, and the early morning glow of a clear sky with calm seas all describe quintessential, historic, New England shoreline."
New London Ledge
Select:
"This was a really tough shot to get.
The lighthouse is 1/2 mile offshore in the mouth of the river.
It was a very cold November evening in a brisk wind and I was freezing.
My goal was to capture the reddish pink skylight of dusk with a reflection of the setting sun in the west-facing windows (right side) and the rotating beacon coming round while using my body to block the camera from the wind to reduce vibration all at the same time."
Shoreline Jutt
Select:
"The rocky jut takes the eye out toward the sea.
The water changes color as it deepens away from the shore.
The seagulls overhead and the smell of marsh grass are the memories that come to mind every time I see this image."
Waves Rocky Shore
Select:
"The waves were gently washing along the shore and over some of the rocks.
The returning water foamed where it met the oncoming waves.
It was a calm morning with a gentle breeze and no one around perfect to spend a little solitude surrounded by nature."
Empty Dock

"Here's another image the conveys 'peace' to me.
The empty dock doesn't make one feel rushed, the leaves are calm, autumn provides color and there's a tacit message that the hustle bustle of summer is fading."
