"This is one of my favorite sunsets.
Though I had passed this location often over the years, this particular time, the clouds were breaking up in spots about an hour before sunset.
Hoping for the best, I stopped and waited patiently, vacillating between excitement when the clouds seemed about right and dismay when they filled the horizon until, at just the right moment, the edge of the clouds blew East on a westerly wind and let the sun and blue sky show enough to get this shot."

"This was a surprise.
The weather was really crummy with very high humidity and health warnings about not exercising outdoors due to high levels of pollution.
The humidity and haze were so thick that the sky was nearly white and it seemed as if there was a thin fog everywhere.
But, at the end of the day on this hot, hazy, summer evening, all those elements conspired to dim the sun enough as it went down to render this appealing image through a 400mm telephoto lens."

"While I usually adjust images only to compensate for the limitations of film and digital detectors so they reflect what I saw in the viewfinder, I manipulated this one to fit my 'blue mood' of the moment to create an unusual, but appealing image.
It just somehow feels right."

"Another surprise. I was shooting the Sunset Glow image and always make it a point to turn around and look at the whole sky.
On this evening, I was greeted by this image behind me."

"To me, this is the epitome of serenity at the end of a long day.
The wind and sky, the water, and most living things seem to be closing down for a peaceful night's rest.
Even the mosquitoes weren't biting (a first!)"
